In this year's NHL draft, second is better than first

Patrik Laine best be careful what he wishes for, lest he wake up on June 25 and find what he thinks would be a dream come true turns out instead to be a nightmare on Bay Street.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard that Laine has been making a loud — and, truth be told, compelling — argument this month that it should be him, and not Auston Matthews, who is selected first overall at the upcoming NHL entry draft a week from Friday.

The fact Laine would become a member of arguably the most dysfunctional sports franchise in North America — the Toronto Maple Leafs — if he gets his wish on June 24 seems not to have occurred to the 18-year-old Finnish phenom.
