Former Washington State first baseman and pitcher John Olerud has been named the Pac-12 Baseball Player of the Century.
The ex-Interlake High School standout headed the conference’s All-Century team, which was announced Monday night on Pac-12 Networks.
A 36-member panel cast their ballots for the conference’s top 20 infielders/outfielders, top 10 pitchers and Pitcher, Player and Coach of the Century. Former Washington pitcher Tim Lincecum was among the pitchers selected.
Olerud was the Pac-10 Player of the Year in 1988, when he became the only pitcher in NCAA history to win 15 games (he was 15-0) and hit 20 home runs (he hit 23) in a season.
