The Washington Capitals took down the Toronto Maple Leafs in an emotional affair highlighted by the return of Brooks Laich. It was certainly not one of the better performances from the Capitals this season, but they were once again able to squeeze out a 3-2 win despite their less than stellar play.
The first period was more or less back and forth, but the Leafs’ inexperience showed itself from time to time. As the frame wound down, the Caps triggered the red light first when Taylor Chorney wristed one in for his first goal as a member of the Washington Capitals.
