The worst-kept secret of the NHL offseason is finally out.
According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the Vegas Golden Knights have officially traded for forward Mitch Marner from the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Friedman also revealed that Marner has signed an eight-year contract worth $12 million annually.
The return for Toronto has yet to be revealed, but speculation from rumors over the last 48 hours suggests that Nic Roy is the likely player going to the Maple Leafs.
The writing for Marner to Vegas has been on the wall for some time now, with the superstar willing to waive his no-move clause in two instances to the Golden Knights.
