Two potential acquisitions that the Toronto Maple Leafs could look into are Darnell Nurse and Jordan Schmaltz.
Both Nurse and Schmaltz are RFAs and still have yet to be signed. In addition, their teams, the St. Louis Blues and the Edmonton Oilers ,may not have cap space to retain them. At this juncture, the Blues have $284,845 in space and the Oilers have roughly 4 million USD in space.
While the Oilers could technically afford to give Nurse a decent deal, I doubt it’d be enough. Nurse logged the second most in minutes for a defenseman on the Oilers, only falling short to Oscar Klefbom.
