Clarkson, 35, has not appeared in a game over the past three seasons due to a career-ending back injury and will be placed on long-term injury reserve (LTIR).

Clarkson signed a seven-year, $36.75 million deal with the Leafs back in July of 2013 in what turned out to be the worst free agent signing in Leafs history.
