Toronto Maple Leafs: He Came in Laich a Wrecking Ball

After spending twelve years as a member of the Washington Capitals, Brooks Laich found himself exorcised from the organization with whom he’s spent all of his career. The Capitals signed him to a 6-year, 27 million dollar contract extension in 2011, with an average cap hit of 4.5 mil per year.

As his production fell, Washington felt the need to cut ties with their long-time center. That’s when Brooks Laich found himself going from a perennial contender to a team that can’t even pretend to be a pretender.

At 32 years of age, Laich joined the Toronto Maple Leafs as the third oldest member of the roster.
