TSN: Michael Hutchinson cleared waivers and the Toronto Maple Leafs have recalled Kasimir Kaskisuo to backup Frederik Andersen.
Bob McKenzie says that Kaskisuo is the backup for now and that they are not in the market for a veteran backup. Anderson will start on Wednesday against the Islanders and likely Friday against the Bruins. Kaskisuo could be called upon for Saturday against the Penguins.
“Right now they want to give Kasimir Kaskisuo his chance to prove he’s an NHL backup. We’ll see how it fares. There are five more back-to-back situations for the Toronto Maple Leafs between now and the end of December.
