Leafs remain perfect in preseason

Calle Rosen’s third period power play goal held up as the game-winner in Saturday’s 3-2 exhibition win by the Leaf over the Buffalo Sabres. Rosen is in a dogfight with Connor Carrick, Andreas Borgman and Martin Marincin for the sixth blue line spot on Toronto’s opening day roster.

Auston Matthews and Jeremy Bracco each collected their first goal of the preseason for the Leafs. Trevor Moore had a solid outing, contributing with one assist and also making a crucial shot block in the final seconds of regulation as Buffalo pressed for the equalizer.

Frederik Andersen stopped 19 of 21 shots over the first two periods before giving way to Calvin Pickard to close out the game.
