Leafs fall to Senators – defence shredded in second period

The Maple Leafs suffered their first defeat of the season; 5-3 at the hands of the Ottawa Senators on Friday night. Toronto allowed a 2-1 lead to slip away during a 4 minute, 35 second stretch in the second period in which they allowed three consecutive goals.

TJ Brodie had a dreadful outing plagued with missed assignments and turnovers. Frederik Andersen took the loss in goal, stopping 19 of 24 shots.

Zach Hyman, Alexander Kerfoot and John Tavares were the Leafs’ scorers.
