Patrick Marleau passes Gordie Howe to become NHL's all-time games played leader

Patrick Marleau stands alone in the NHL record book.

Marleau played his 1,768th career contest on Monday night as his San Jose Sharks took on the Vegas Golden Knights, passing Gordie Howe for the NHL's all-time games played mark.

"I'll try to take it all in as much as possible," Marleau said Saturday via NHL.com. "The fun part is playing an actual game and all that, but my family's going to be there to help celebrate, so it'll be super special having them in the building."

San Jose Sharks forward Patrick Marleau is now the NHL's all-time games played leader, passing Gordie Howe.
