Chris Heston was an unheralded prospect, a stopgap starter and, until Tuesday’s game against the Mets, the owner of an unremarkable 14-game big league career. He had shown glimpses of promise, but as a back-of-the-rotation pitcher for the San Francisco Giants, he aspired to gain notice in the clubhouse of the defending world champions.
But Heston made his mark at Citi Field, flirting with perfection and finishing with the first no-hitter in baseball this season, a 5-0 victory for the Giants.
He walked no one, struck out 11 and induced 13 ground ball outs.
