Lincecum's arrival to Rangers camp on hold after brother's death | Fort Worth Star-Telegram

Right-hander Tim Lincecum is expected to join the Texas Rangers in the coming days after attending the funeral of his older brother, who passed away last week in the Seattle area.

Services for Sean Leo Lincecum, 37, are scheduled for Saturday. Tim Lincecum agreed to join the Rangers after the death, and they don't expect that the untimely passing will alter his decision to resume his career.

Lincecum, 33, must still pass a physical exam before the deal can be made official, a source said. He is expected to fill a multiple-innings role in the bullpen but is also a potential candidate to serve as closer.
