Texas Rangers News: Joe Saunders replaces Scott Baker in rotation

In Texas Rangers news tonight, Joe Saunders will return from injury to a spot in the Texas Rangers starting rotation on Wednesday night, as Scott Baker will be moved back to the bullpen after a shaky start on Friday night.

Per Richard Durrett of ESPNDallas.com, "Baker allowed six runs in six innings in Friday's 7-2 loss to the Detroit Tigers. Saunders, who suffered a stress fracture in his left ankle after he was hit by a line drive off the bat of Evan Longoria on April 4, has made four rehab starts in the minor leagues. He gave up one run in seven innings with Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday."

Joe Saunders sustained the injury in his first start of the 2014 season - a start in which he had already allowed five runs on six hits in 3 2/3 innings.

Saunders struggled mightily in spring training as well, but manager Ron Washington seems to believe that he will be ready to return to form after a month and a half away from the big leagues.
