Longhorns Football News: Charlie Strong Talks West Virginia Win, Crowd Surfing

The Texas Longhorns took a massive step forward on Satuday with a 33-16 victory over the #23 West Virginia Mountaineers in Austin.

”It was a really big game against a ranked team," head coach Charlie Strong said after the game, via the Dallas Morning News. "I don’t know exactly the stat, but I was told we had not beaten a ranked opponent since 2008 at home. It was just really big for us to go out and play well tonight.”

The win was also "big" for Texas' bowl hopes with the Longhorns now just one win away from postseason eligibility. Taking down a talented West Virginia team in front of the Burnt Orange faithful is a monumental moment for Strong's new regime, especially in light of all the suspensions and upheaval of weeks past.

All in all, it was a cathartic victory - so cathartic, in fact, that Charlie Strong had a chance to crowd surf in elation in the locker room.

”I just walked in and they just grabbed me, I don’t know how that got out," Strong admitted. "West Virginia’s going to be mad, that’s the second time that has happened.”
