Checking in on prospects at Lightning development camp

BRANDON — Lightning prospects didn’t run stairs at an iconic outdoor amphitheater this week like the Avalanche or have a lakeside beach volleyball tournament like the Wild.

Tampa Bay kept it lower key, with its socializing leaning more toward a Top Golf outing. (Plus, a beach volleyball tournament in the Florida heat looks a little different than one in Minnesota.)

Stacy Roest, assistant general manager and director of player development, stressed that the Lightning likes to use this opportunity to get to know the prospects. “We don’t have much contact with the NCAA guys or the Europeans.
