Mexico name squad for November’s World Cup Qualifiers

Mexico announced the call up for the November World Cup Qualifying matches against the United States and Canada. Coach Gerardo Martino pretty much made the same call up for the very tough two away matches that he had been doing for most of the World Cup Qualifiers, as Mexico hopes to continue in first place of the CONCACAF table. Mexico will play against the United States on November 12th in Cincinnati and then travel to Edmonton to face Canada on November 16th.

The call up list was the following:

Goalkeepers: Guillermo Ochoa (America), Alfredo Talavera (Pumas), Rodolfo Cota (Leon)

Defenders: Johan Vasquez (Genoa), Nestor Araujo (Celta de Vigo), Cesar Montes (Monterrey), Luis Rodriguez (Tigres), Hector Moreno (Monterrey), Julio Cesar Dominguez (Cruz Azul), Jorge Sanchez (America), Luis Romo (Cruz Azul), Jesus Gallardo (Monterrey), Osvaldo Rodriguez (Leon)

Midfielders: Hector Herrera (Atletico Madrid), Edson Alvarez (Ajax), Andres Guardado (Betis), Orbelin Pineda (Cruz Azul), Sebastian Cordova (America), Carlos Rodriguez (Monterrey), Roberto Alvarado (Cruz Azul), Jesus Ricardo Angulo (Chivas)

Forwards: Raul Jimenez (Wolverhampton), Hirving Lozano (Napoli), Jesus Coronoa (Porto), Rogelio Funes Mori (Monterrey), Henry Martin (America)

There were few notable omissions although the most notable is that once again Gerardo Arteaga, the Genk defender who should be a constant with the national team but hasn’t been called up since the Nations League Finals.
