Lamine Yamal wins Laureus Breakthrough Award

FC Barcelona’s young star Lamine Yamal has won a prestigious Laureus World Sports Awards for “Breakthrough of the Year.”

Considered one of the most prestigious award ceremonies in the world of sports, the Laureus Awards recognizes athletes from all sports.

Two giants in their respective sports were also recognized as Swedish pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis won Sportsman of the Year and American gymnast Simone Biles won Sportswoman of the Year at the ceremony.

The other nominees for the award Yamal won were Julien Alfred (athletics, Saint Lucia), Summer McIntosh (swimming, Canada), Letsile Tebogo (athletics, Botswana), Victor Wembanyama (basketball, France), and Bayer Leverkusen (football, Germany).
