A comprehensive analysis of FC Barcelona’s transfer activity since the 1994–95 season done by Diario SPORT shows that the club has made 158 first-team signings in three decades. Among these, only 59 transfers (37.3 percent) are considered unequivocal successes, while 62 (39.2 percent) fall into the outright failure category. The remaining 23.4 percent sit in a “mixed” zone -players whose contributions were inconsistent or fell short of expectations.
The evaluation was not done through statistics only, focusing instead purely on performance and only at Barcelona, weighing both the quality and price tag of each signing. It underscores that while transfers often bring hope and excitement, empirically they more often disappoint.
