SEC Recruiting: 2016 Rumors Roundup With 16 Days Until Signing Day

The SEC has been the premier conference on the recruiting trail for the past decade, and that hasn't been any different this year as six of the top 11 recruiting classes in the country belong to SEC teams. As all 14 schools try to put the finishing touches on their classes, here's the latest news and rumors with just over two weeks until National Signing Day on Feb. 3:

Georgia pulling five-star LB Lyndell Wilson away from Alabama?
Wilson, a five-star linebacker from Montgomery, AL, is deciding between Alabama and Georgia on National Signing Day, and the Bulldogs may have inched out in front. Wilson took his first official visit to Athens over the weekend, and said he felt comfortable while on campus.

"My favorite part was sitting down with Coach Smart and listening to everything he had to tell me," Wilson said, via 247sports. "He told me Georgia was a great place to be and I could definitely see that. He also said he was going to get a lot of things changed. He said I have a great opportunity to play, because a lot of the linebackers they have coming back did not play a lot last year.

"As far as coaches I have the best relationship with right now, Kirby Smart is No. 1," Wilson said. "He came by to see Shaun Dion Hamilton when I was in ninth grade and he has been on me ever since. My first trip to Georgia was really great overall. I feel like it is a great place to play football and they have a great academic program as well. I plan to update my recruitment after I take my other two officials. Georgia has set the bar very high."

Wilson is ranked as the No. 1 outside linebacker and No. 14 overall prospect in the country.

Alabama to make huge splash on Signing Day?
There are still plenty of top five-star and four-star recruits that are uncommitted and won't be announcing a decision until Signing Day, and almost all of them are considering at least one SEC school. However, Alabama is poised to make the biggest splash of all as they're favored to land five of the top 10 uncommitted prospects in the country.

Top JUCO prospect has three SEC schools in top eight
Jonathan Kongbo is a four-star JUCO DE and is a former Tennessee commit. He revealed his top eight on Twitter Saturday, adding that he'll cut down his list shortly. In no particular order, the teams were Tennessee, Ole Miss, Alabama, USC, Oklahoma, Washington, Florida State and Oregon. The Ducks are currently the favorite to land him.

Four-star Florida commit "likely" to make official visit to Auburn
Four-star defensive end Antonneous Clayton (Vienna, GA) wasn't able to meet with Auburn defensive coordinator Kevin Steele and defensive line coach Rodney Garner on Friday as was previously scheduled due to bad weather across the state of Georgia. However, the Tigers still want to get him on campus for an official visit in the coming weeks, an offer he said he will "most likely" take them up on.

Auburn to add Texas Tech transfer?
Texas Tech graduate transfer quarterback Davis Webb is expected to make an official visit Auburn in February, according Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports. Webb would be eligible to play in 2016.

"I'm just looking for the right school, right fit and for the opportunity to compete for the starting job and to win a lot of games," Webb told Fox Sports.

The 6'5", 220-pounder Webb has thrown for 46 touchdowns and only 22 interceptions in his career, but lost his starting job to Patrick Mahomes this year.
