Takeaways: Joe Thornton joins elite company with 400th goal in Sharks win

SAN JOSE — Joe Thornton made sure that his 400th goal will be remembered in Sharks territory for quite some time.

After the Sharks (10-6-3) coughed up a 3-0 lead by surrendering four unanswered goals to the Nashville Predators (13-4-1), Thornton stamped his place in the history books by scoring the game winner just 13 seconds after Joe Pavelski tied things up at 13:05 of the third period.

In doing so, Thornton became just the seventh player in NHL history to score 400 goals, record 1,000 assists and play in 1,500 games. Everyone else on the list is in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
