SAN JOSE — Neither captain Joe Pavelski or forward Joonas Donskoi will play Friday when the Sharks open their second round playoff series against the Colorado Avalanche at SAP Center, coach Pete DeBoer said.
Pavelski suffered a head injury in the third period of Game 7. He did not practice Thursday or take part in the Sharks’ morning skate Friday. Donskoi, who missed Game 7, did skate Friday morning but remains unavailable. Donskoi took a big hit from Brayden McNabb in overtime of Game 6 against the Vegas Golden Knights although it is unclear whether that is the reason for his absence.
