Matt Nieto scored twice and Kevin Labanc added two points of his own as the Sharks beat the Canucks 3-2 for their third straight preseason overtime win.
Andrey Pedan and Dan Kelly dropped the gloves just 2:08 into the game. Pedan picked up an instigator penalty, and a 10-minute misconduct. The Sharks couldn’t score on their ensuing power play, but Vancouver could. Tuomo Ruutu scored shorthanded with 16:16 left in the first, beating Martin Jones bar down on Vancouver’s second shot of the game.
The Sharks would get another chance on the power play around the midway point of the period.
