Meier’s overtime goal pushes Sharks past Flyers

Timo Meier scored twice, including the game-winner 13 seconds into overtime, as the Sharks slipped past the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 on Saturday night at SAP Center.

Meier’s 11th goal of the season, and eighth in his past seven games, came off an assist by Logan Couture and gave the Sharks 17 points, two points behind Pacific Division-leading Calgary.

Martin Jones had 22 saves for San Jose. Philadelphia got 31 from Cal Pickard.

Joe Thornton, playing in his fourth game of the season, had his first goal of the season. It came at 15:03 of the third period and tied the game at 3-3.
