SAN JOSE — Nearly a year ago to the day, Erik Karlsson made his debut in a Sharks jersey on the ice surface at SAP Center.
Karlsson wasn’t playing, but between the first and second intermissions of the Sharks’ Sept. 22, 2018 preseason game against the Vegas Golden Knights, he skated out wearing the team’s new ‘stealth’ jersey — a nearly all black uniform with teal trim and white numbers and lettering.
What had been a normal exhibition game turned into a more memorable experience, as Karlsson was greeted with a loud ovation by the Sharks’ faithful.
