SANTA CLARA — The 49ers are opting for a magnificent, seven-man unit to serve as captains, more than any previous season under coach Kyle Shanahan.
Linebacker Fred Warner, right tackle Mike McGlinchey, defensive tackle Arik Armstead and left tackle Trent Williams join the captain’s club with holdovers Jimmy Garoppolo, George Kittle and Richard Sherman.
