Dak Prescott threw an early INT (off the hands of Randall Cobb), but finished 26 of 30 for 269 yards, 3 TDs and another 69 on the ground. . Ezekiel Elliott got a bigger workload and it showed, as he ran for 111 yards and a TD. Plus, wideouts Michael Gallup, Devin Smith and Amari Cooper fared well. The common theme for this Kellen Moore offense is that it tries to make the pre-snap reads easier on Dak Prescott while creating space for Amari Cooper, Randall Cobb and Michael Gallup. The best Cowboys news is that Moore is clearly going to lean on play action and early-down passing. That’s for the best, because that’s the way to win in the NFL. Michael Gallup was the Cowboys’ leading receiver vs. the Giants with 158 yards while Amari Cooper added 106 receiving yards and a touchdown grab. Randall Cobb & Jason Witten also had touchdown catches in the Cowboys’ win in their 2019 NFL regular season debut. On defense, the Cowboys started off rough by giving up an early touchdown to the Giants. From then on, the Cowboys held the Giants’ offense in check until New York had a garbage time touchdown late in the fourth quarter. However, the Cowboys did allow Eli Manning to throw for more than 300 passing yards & Saquon Barkley had 120 rushing yards, but it wasn’t enough to keep up with the Cowboys prolific offense coordinated by Kellen Moore. Overall, the Cowboys offense could not have looked better in Kellen Moore’s first game as offensive coordinator. He had the perfect combination of a passing and rushing attack while implementing a lot of play action & a handful of RPO’s. Nonetheless, the Cowboys offense did its part & was the reason behind the Cowboys’ blowout win vs. the New York Giants. The defense has to shore up some weaknesses, but they did force two turnovers during the game, which is a good sign because that has been a problem for the Cowboys in recent years.
