Boivin: Suns offer fans little hope in opener

The Suns have ventured near the dark and scary part of the NBA forest, where a franchise falls and no one is around to hear it.

Five years is a long time for a playoff drought. It screams mismanagement and lack of vision. Only Minnesota, Sacramento and Detroit have been away from the postseason longer.

It’s just one game, but Wednesday’s season opener, a 111-95 loss to the Dallas Mavericks at Talking Stick Resort Arena, did little to make fans believe this team is heading in an upward trajectory.
