A blockbuster trade at the NWSL draft here in Philadelphia includes Delran native Carli Lloyd coming home to New Jersey to play for Sky Blue FC, which is based at Lloyd’s alma mater Rutgers.
Multiple sources confirmed to the Inquirer and Daily News the parameters of a three-team deal that also involves U.S. national team star forward Christen Press and Australian goal-scoring phenom Sam Kerr.
Lloyd moves from the Houston Dash to Sky Blue; Press moves from the Chicago Red Stars to Houston; and Kerr moves from Sky Blue to Chicago.
The trade also involves a number of other players to be determined, plus a slew of picks in this year’s draft.
