Senators goalie Matt O'Connor leaves rookie tournament with injury

LONDON, ONT. - For about 18 minutes in Friday’s 2-1 rookie tournament overtime loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators goaltender Matt O’Connor looked sharp.

Then came the concern.

O’Connor skated to the bench favouring his left leg after former Senators prospect Tobias Lindberg collided with him in the crease, earning himself a goaltender interference penalty in the process.

While O’Connor finished out the first period, ending with 11 saves on 12 shots, Chris Driedger took over to start the second. The original plan called for the goaltenders to each play half the game.

“Absolutely minor, minor (injury),” said Binghamton Senators coach Kurt Kleinendorst, who is serving as the Senators bench boss this weekend.
