3 Biggest Needs For The Orlando Magic This Offseason

The 2015 NBA Draft is in the books, and now it's time for the Orlando Magic to weather all of the rumors and attack free agency when July 1st rolls around. With that in mind, here's our list of the 3 Biggest Needs For The Orlando Magic This Offseason.

1. Supplementary Scoring

The Orlando Magic started the road to balancing the scales with their pick of Croatian swingman Mario Hezonja in Thursday's draft, but this is still a defensive-oriented roster in need of range shooters.

Hezonja's acclimation process is going to take time, so it'd behoove Orlando's front office to look to free agency for a guy like Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard Wesley Matthews -- someone who is capable of filling it up on a heat check at the drop of a hat.

2. Rim Protection

Rumors have the Magic looking to the free-agent market for a franchise-changing big man, with Detroit's Greg Monroe heading the wishlist. However, Monroe's going to be one of the most heavily sought-after bigs this summer, so Orlando will have to line up contingency plans when it comes to finding rim protection.

Keep an eye on Mavs center Tyson Chandler. He's not an offensive force at this stage in his career, but he's still one of the best defensive fives in the entire league.

3. In-Practice Evolution For Oladipo, Payton and Gordon

All three members of Orlando's incumbent young core have growing to do on the offensive end, with the most glaring example of that being Elfrid Payton's off-kilter jump shot at the point. However, all three are still in the cocoon stages of refining their NBA games. This summer's biggest need is for that process to continue unabated, giving Magic fans reason to believe that this team can slot in at the back of the Eastern Conference playoff field in 2016.
