NHL News: Maple Leafs acquire David Rittich; Bruins land Mike Riley; and Kings Jeff Carter to Penguins?

The Toronto Maple Leafs are still at it as they’ve traded for goalie insurance by landing Flames backup David Rittich. The Flames will retain 50% of his cap hit in exchange for a 2022 third round pick from the Leafs. The 28 year-old will be a UFA at season’s end.

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the hockey club has acquired goaltender David Rittich from the Calgary Flames in exchange for Toronto’s third round selection in the 2022 NHL Draft. As part of the deal, Calgary will retain 50 percent of Rittich’s contract.
