Will Ellsbury Waive No-Trade Clause
Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports hears Yankees outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury is considering waiving his no-trade clause.

Earlier this offseason, it was believed that Ellsbury was unlikely to waive that clause. Now, he is considering waiving it for a select few teams, and the San Francisco Giants could be one of them.

The 34-year-old Ellsbury appeared in 112 games for the Yankees last season, hitting .264/.348/.402 with seven homers, 39 RBIs, and 22 stolen bases. In his 12 postseason plate appearances, he didn't record a single hit.

Yu Darvish Whispers
Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported Wednesday morning that the Yankees are interested in Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Yu Darvish if they can "get creative." If anyone for a second thinks this is just smoke, then I'd encourage them to look at all the smoke before the Yankees signed Stanton.

Never count out the Yankees because they have proven to be the most creative team this offseason, and a way for them to be creative and land Darvish is to find a home for Ellsbury. He is owed $68.5 million over the next three years.

“They are sniffing around in case the price drops,’ a source told the New York Post about the Yankees' pursuit of the 31-year-old Darvish, who reportedly is looking for $20 million to $25 million per year.

Dellin Betances Needs To Prove Himself
New York set up man Dellin Betances has made the AL All-Star team in four straight seasons, recording 100 strikeouts and a 2.87 ERA  while only allowing 29 hits over 59.2 innings pitched - yet he still believes he hasn't "made it."

“I’m taking it as I have to prove myself," a source told northjersey.com about Betances' mindset going into the season.

It isn't shocking to hear any athlete say this, but it's understandable for him to feel this way considering the Yankees have a new manager and he ended the season with a 5.59 ERA over his final 12 games.

The issue for Betances last season was his inability to control his fastball, making it easier for the batter to predict when he would throw a breaking ball.

“If I can get that (fastball) back on track, I think everything will take care of itself,’’ Betances said. “Last year, I kind of went back and forth on mechanics. (Now, I’ll) focus on one delivery and repeat that.’’

Betances, who turns 30 in March, has two years of arbitration remaining before he can become an unrestricted free agent in 2020.
