3 Players The New York Jets Could Sign In Free Agency

The New York Jets had a better than expected season in 2017 winning five games. With the No. 6 overall pick, the Jets should be able to land an impact player early in the draft, but they have several needs they must address to improve and compete for a playoff berth in the near future. The Jets have already been active signing cornerback Trumaine Johnson, quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, and running back Isaiah Crowell, but New York still may target some available free agents. As such, here are three players the Jets could sign in free agency:

1.) Alex Okafor, DE, New Orleans Saints

The Jets struggled in 2017 getting after the quarterback with only 26 sacks. The Jets need to have a dominant defense that can get after the quarterback if they have any chance of dethroning the Patriots. Okafor recorded a career-high 43 tackles and 4.5 sacks in only 10 games with New Orleans last season. He will come at a discounted price after tearing his Achilles in Week 11.

2.) Greg Robinson, OT, Detroit Lions

Greg Robinson could be an option for the Jets as a swing tackle. The second overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft has been a bust to this point in his career. He enters his fifth season in the NFL at age 25 and a team like the Jets may take a chance on him. Having extra depth on the offensive line is never a bad thing and perhaps all Robinson needs is a change of scenery.

E.J. Gaines, CB

The Jets secondary has been one of their biggest weaknesses over the last few seasons. The Jets already went out and signed cornerback Trumaine Johnson but may look to add another cornerback. E.J. Gaines may not be a true No. 1 corner, but he's definitely a quality starter. When looking back at the top Jets defenses they were anchored by solid corner play. Gaines and Johnson would be great additions to a Jets secondary.
