This was a very different night.

The hate had subsided, and the Islanders fans had mostly moved on from all the raw emotion that came out when former captain John Tavares had first returned to the Coliseum on Feb. 28.

By Monday night, the focus was more on the fact that the Islanders had locked up their playoff spot and were trying to secure home-ice advantage for at least the first round. It just coincided with Tavares’ Long Island encore, and he managed to gain some redemption, scoring what stood as the game-winner as his Maple Leafs won, 2-1.
