Saints make last-minute roster move before Week 1 vs. Texans

It’s never too late to make tweaks to the roster, as the New Orleans Saints demonstrated late Monday afternoon. The Saints released defensive end Wes Horton and promoted Mitchell Loewen from their practice squad, per Field Yates of ESPN. Horton spent the summer with the Saints after starting his career with the Carolina Panthers, and initially made it through roster cuts to become Cameron Jordan’s chief backup. Loewen was signed to the practice squad after being cut by the Detroit Lions; he previously spent a few years with the Saints, either on the practice squad or injured reserve.
