The Montreal Canadiens are once again off to a great start. Just like in 2015-16, they’ve gone undefeated in regulation after eight games, and they sit atop the NHL’s standings. The Habs have scored 29 goals in that span, and thanks to some borderline immaculate play by Al Montoya and Carey Price, have only allowed 12 goals against.
The offensive production is likely to see a dip, as is the unsustainable save percentage, but in the meantime the Canadiens have a fantastic opportunity to earn two points versus the upstart Toronto Maple Leafs. The Leafs have scored 22 goals so far this year, but are a complete mess defensively and in net, allowing 30 goals against in that span.
