Montreal’s offence came to play in the first game of the season, scoring four goals versus the Toronto Maple Leafs, and at one point holding a 3-1 lead. But some penalty issues and an approach to the defence that was a bit too passive allowed the Leafs to match their output through 60 minutes, and then win the game in overtime.
