And we are off! The 2019 National Women’s Soccer League season has begun, and the Chicago Red Stars campaign with it. Probably one of the biggest challenges of the season already, the Red Stars went up against defending champions, the North Carolina Courage, in North Carolina.
It was a very tight match overall, but there were definitely periods where one team was dominating. The game started out with North Carolina heavily pressing in attack. But it was the Red Stars who scored the first goal, coming very much against the run of play, provided by Sam Kerr and a pass from Yuki Nagasato.
