Report: Vikings Offensive Coordinator Norv Turner Has Resigned

Just two days after the Minnesota Vikings lost to the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football, offensive coordinator Norv Turner has resigned, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter:

The Vikings started the season 5-0, but have lost their last two games due to an inefficient and ineffective offense, with the offensive line getting most of the blame. However, plenty of stats show the ineffectiveness of the entire unit.

Minnesota currently ranks 31st in the league in total offense, including dead last in rushing. They have also punted on half of their drives this season - the highest rate in the NFL - and have the fourth-worst efficiency rating.

The Vikings are dealing with a few significant injuries. Starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was lost for the season (and potentially for next season as well) due to a knee injury he suffered in training camp, and star running back Adrian Peterson has been out with a knee injury since Week 2. However, a trade for Sam Bradford seemingly jump-started the unit during their 5-0 start.

Shurmur has worked with Bradford twice before, both as the offensive coordinator of the St. Louis Rams in 2008 and with the Philadelphia Eagles last season.

The Vikings will host the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
