Vikings News: Packers QB Aaron Rodgers Gives Mike Zimmer, Minnesota Secondary Credit

The Minnesota Vikings gave the Green Bay Packers all they could handle and more on Sunday, before falling in a nail-biter 24-21 at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Packers starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers has shredded higher-profile secondaries left and right during the 2014 NFL season, but was held relatively in check (19-for-29, 209 yards, 2 touchdowns) by a well-coached Vikings defensive back corps.

"It was different playing against a Mike Zimmer team," Rodgers said, via Ben Goessling of ESPN.com. "Mike is a great football mind, and he had a great plan for us again. He had a great plan for us the first time [On Oct. 2], but we were able to turn turnovers into points. They put a lot on Xavier [Rhodes] and Captain [Munnerlyn] and Josh [Robinson]. Those guys tackled well, they covered pretty well and you've got to give them credit."

The Packers' running game may have been the difference between a win and a loss on Sunday, but the Vikings' secondary proved its mettle in a losing effort.
