NFLPA Releases Statement On Adrian Peterson's Appeal Rejection, Will Consider "Immediate Legal Remedies"

Adrian Peterson's appeal was denied Friday afternoon, seemingly shutting the door on any chances of the Vikings RB playing this season. The NFL Players Association responded with a sharply-worded statement soon after the ruling came down:

The NFLPA expected this outcome, given the hearing officer's relationship and financial ties to the NFL. The decision itself ignores the facts, the evidence and the collective bargaining agreement. This decision also represents the NFL's repeated failure to adhere to due process and confirms its inconsistent treatment of players. Our union is considering immediate legal remedies.

Peterson was suspended without pay for the remainder of the 2014 season on November 18, but had appealed in hopes of playing in 2014. Peterson was indicted on child abuse charges on September 12 after an accusation that he beat his four-year-old son with a switch, leaving welts and cuts across the child's legs and backside.

Peterson is now expected to appeal in federal court.
