The Michigan Wolverines have revealed the jersey numbers for their incoming freshman football class. There's one notable surprise in the jersey numbers and it involves the No. 1 jersey.
The No. 1 jersey has often been given to the program's top wide receiver, a tradition that started with Anthony Carter. The likes of Greg McMurtry, Derrick Alexander and David Terrell all wore it, with Braylon Edwards earning it during his Michigan career. There was then a decade-long drought, before Devin Funchess wore in 2014. Last year, Kekoa Crawford wore the jersey as a true freshman, but he's no longer the only Michigan player wearing it.
True freshman LB Jordan Anthony has also been given the number this year to wear on defense. He's a five-star recruit according to Rivals.com.
