David Huff gets the nod to start for Angels on Tuesday

NEW YORK – David Huff, who wasn’t even in the Angels system a month ago, is going to get a shot to start on Tuesday.

The Angels selected the 31-year-old Orange County native to temporarily plug the hole left by Nick Tropeano, who went on the disabled list with a shoulder problem.

“He’s throwing the ball well,” Manager Mike Scioscia said. “He has experience. He’ll get an opportunity to come up here and see if he can fill in tomorrow.”

The Angels also could have picked Tim Lincecum or Kyle Kendrick, or gone with a bullpen game.
