BREAKING: Chiefs Will Start QB Patrick Mahomes On Sunday

The Kansas City Chiefs will start quarterback Patrick Mahomes on Sunday against the Denver Broncos over Alex Smith, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Kansas City clinched the AFC West with a win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday and are locked into the No. 4 seed in the AFC. As such, they are taking this opportunity to give Mahomes his first career start.

This will give the Chiefs their first look at Mahomes in game action. Despite the fact that Alex Smith has led Kansas City to the playoffs for three straight seasons, they are planning to trade him in the offseason in order to let Mahomes, who the traded up to select with the No. 10 pick, take over the offseason.
