A horrible call in the third period opened the door and the San Jose Sharks walked through it, defeating the Vegas Golden Knights 5-4 in overtime to win the series in seven games. The Golden Knights led 3-0, on goals from William Karlsson, Cody Eakin and Max Pacioretty, midway through the final frame when Eakin was handed a five-minute major for cross-checking Joe Pavelski. At most, the call should have been a two-minute minor and it’s debatable if it was even a penalty at all. The Sharks took full advantage of the major, ripping off four goals in a span of 4:01.
