The Florida Panthers were fresh coming into this game, starting off on the right foot. The Maple Leafs, on the other hand, who played the Atlantic Division leaders the other night (Tampa Bay), looked quite tired and baggy.
The Panthers took advantage of this early on, sustaining most of the pressure in the Leafs’ end. However, it was Toronto who struck first, courtesy of defenseman Ron Hainsey, whose point shot found its way through.
Unlike previous games, the Panthers didn’t collapse and continued chopping at the bit.
