Toronto – Another unsatisfying start led to an undesirable ending for the Red Wings.
The Wings fell behind early again, roared back, but fell short 3-2 to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday.
The defeat stretched the Wings’ winless streak to three games (0-2-1).
Gustav Nyquist had both goals for Detroit.
Alexey Marchenko, James van Riemsdyk (power play), Nazem Kadri had Toronto's goals.
After ragged play for most of two periods, the Wings were able to get on the scoreboard late in the second period.
Henrik Zetterberg found Nyquist alone in front of goalie Frederik Andersen, and Nyquist finished off the play with his 8th goal, ending a 12-game goal-scoring drought with 38.
