Red Wings winless in four following loss to Leafs

DETROIT - Toronto Maple Leafs star Auston Matthews has scored nine goals this season. So have the Detroit Red Wings.

This illustrates the direction these teams are headed.

The Maple Leafs kept the Red Wings winless with a 5-3 victory Thursday at Little Caesars Arena. Matthews scored twice on the power play.

This is the first time the Red Wings (0-2-2) have gone winless in their first four games since 1991-92 (0-3-1, W-L-T).

Nick Jensen twice for the Red Wings. He had gone 87 games without a goal before his first career multi-goal game. Dylan Larkin also scored for Detroit.
