In the twilight of his career, Niklas Kronwall simplified his game.
The adjustment came as he sought a way to offset the damage his body has incurred from years of being a fierce competitor for the Detroit Red Wings.
“It was probably two years ago when it really hit me, it was really frustrating,” Kronwall said Thursday. “You want to play a certain way, you’ve played a certain way throughout your career, and then it doesn’t work out as much.
